Victoria 3 is Paradox Development Studio's grand strategy game devoted to the 19th century, from 1836 to the first decades of the 20th. Unlike most strategy games, war is not the heart of the matter here: you lead a nation through its economy, its society and its politics. You decide which industries to build, which laws to adopt, how to distribute wealth among interest groups that support you or oppose you.
What awaits you
- Population simulation — your citizens are grouped into social categories with needs, incomes and political opinions.
- Market economy — supply, demand and prices evolve for real; a coal shortage paralyses your factories.
- Legislation — suffrage, labour law, slavery, education, each reform runs up against interest groups.
- Diplomacy under tension — a system of diplomatic incidents that build up pressure before erupting into conflict.
- War by fronts — you appoint generals and set objectives rather than moving each regiment.
- Colonisation and trade — trade routes, markets and spheres of influence on a global scale.

System requirements
64-bit Windows PC, quad-core processor, 8 to 16 GB of RAM and a modest dedicated graphics card. It is above all the processor that matters: the economic simulation becomes heavy in the late game.
