Vertical Kingdom is a strategy game that combines city building with card play and roguelite-style expeditions. This listing is a Steam key that works worldwide and is redeemed on your own Steam account. A generation-long war has left the empire in ruins, and you take on the role of the Great Architect, who must rebuild it not with armies but with bricks and mortar.
What to expect
- A building system driven by cards: you draw from several decks each turn and play cards to make your city grow upwards.
- A resource economy covering food, water, bricks, wood, stone and metal, all of which keep the city able to expand and to play new cards.
- Expeditions into different regions, each with its own problems, such as difficult terrain, shortages and very limited building space.
- Permanent buildings, so every placement counts, with homes and workshops that can be combined to raise taxes and resources.
Who is it for?
For players who like careful planning and enjoy optimising a layout step by step. It is a thoughtful, calm strategy game rather than a fast one, and it suits people who like puzzles of space and resources. Rated PEGI 7, it is accessible to a wide audience.
