This listing is for Microsoft Visio 2021 Standard, the one-off purchase edition of Microsoft's diagramming software, licensed for 1 PC. It is aimed at quickly producing readable visuals such as company organisation charts, process flowcharts, layout plans and simple network diagrams.
Everyday diagram types
- Organisation charts with hierarchies and reporting lines, which can be built from a staff list.
- Flowcharts covering the steps, decisions and order of a process.
- Floor plans with offices, furniture or equipment arranged to scale.
- Basic network diagrams showing workstations, servers and their connections.
- Timelines and simple Gantt charts for a visual view of a schedule.
- Smart connectors that follow shapes when you move them, so nothing has to be redrawn.
What the 2021 version brings
New stencils and starter templates, dark mode, better support for high-density screens and improved performance on diagrams with many shapes.
Standard or Pro?
Visio Pro adds database diagrams, advanced templates (BPMN 2.0, full UML, engineering diagrams) and data linking from Excel, SQL Server or SharePoint. If you only need to document an organisation or a process, Standard is plenty.
Good to know
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 only; Visio is not available on macOS.
- 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and 4 GB of RAM.
