McAfee Total Protection 2024 is the top tier of McAfee's home editions, licensed here for one device for one year. Compared with Internet Security it adds a Secure VPN, a password manager and identity monitoring. It is therefore a bundle of privacy tools in one application and one account, not only an antivirus.
What the protection covers
- Real-time antivirus: signature-based detection plus cloud analysis of viruses, Trojans and ransomware.
- Secure VPN: encrypts your connection, notably on public Wi-Fi, and hides your IP address.
- Password manager: creates and stores unique passwords behind a master password, with automatic form filling.
- Identity monitoring: alerts you if your e-mail address or personal data shows up in a known breach.
- Firewall and WebAdvisor: network filtering and blocking of phishing sites before you click.
- Trace cleaning: removal of temporary files and browsing history.
What to know before ordering
The single licence works on Windows 11, 10 and 8.1, macOS, Android and iOS, and you pick which device to protect; it can be moved to another machine from your McAfee dashboard if you change computer. An internet connection is needed for activation, for the VPN and for updates. The product is the 2024 generation of the software.
