McAfee Internet Security 2024 – 1 year / 1 device

McAfee Internet Security 2024 protects one computer for 12 months against viruses, ransomware, phishing and network intrusions. It is McAfee's mid-range offering: more complete than the simple antivirus, but without the VPN or the identity monitoring of the Total Protection edition. This 2024 version benefits from an updated behavioural analysis engine and definition updates throughout the licence period.

What the protection includes

• Real-time antivirus and anti-ransomware — continuous monitoring of files, processes and removable media, with behavioural detection of novel threats.
• Smart firewall — control of network traffic application by application, automatic hardening on untrusted Wi-Fi networks.
• WebAdvisor — rating of links in search results, blocking of phishing pages and malicious downloads.
• Password manager — encrypted vault, generation of strong passwords and auto-fill across your devices.
• Vulnerability scan — spots out-of-date software and drivers that provide a way in.
• File shredder and clean-up — unrecoverable deletion of sensitive documents and removal of temporary files.

Should you go for Total Protection instead?

Total Protection takes everything above and adds three elements absent from Internet Security: the Secure VPN to encrypt your traffic on public networks, identity and dark web monitoring which alerts you if your e-mail addresses or bank details appear in a data breach, and the clean-up of personal data online. If you often work from hotels, stations or cafés, the difference is real.
