ESET NOD32 Antivirus is ESET's stand-alone antivirus, sold here as a licence for one PC for two years. One point to understand before buying: NOD32 detects and blocks threats, but it does not include a firewall, anti-spam or parental control. Those modules belong to the Internet Security editions and above. In exchange, NOD32 is very light on resources, which makes it a sensible choice for an older or low-powered computer.
What is included
- Real-time antivirus and anti-spyware: files, memory and removable media are scanned before anything runs.
- ThreatSense heuristic detection: recognises unknown threats from their behaviour instead of waiting for a signature.
- Script and web scanning: blocks malicious code launched from a browser.
- Anti-phishing protection: cuts off access to pages that imitate a well-known service.
- Exploit blocking: prevents attacks on weaknesses in browsers, PDF readers and office suites.
- Gamer mode: pauses notifications and scheduled scans during full-screen sessions.
- Two years of cover: virus definitions and program updates are provided for the full 24 months.
Before you order
The licence is for 1 PC and lasts 24 months from activation. It works on Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 7 (SP1), in 32-bit and 64-bit. Memory use is modest and about 1 GB of disk space is required. An Internet connection is needed for activation and for daily definition updates.
