Cities: Skylines is the city-building simulation from Colossal Order, which has become a reference point for the genre. You begin with an empty plot crossed by a motorway and grow it into a whole conurbation: laying out roads, residential, commercial and industrial zones, water and electricity networks, schools, hospitals and public transport. Traffic is at the heart of the simulation. Every resident travels individually, and a badly designed junction can bring an entire district to a standstill.
- Zoning and town planning: density, land value, pollution and appeal shape how your districts evolve.
- Traffic simulation: vehicles and pedestrians are calculated individually, with lanes, traffic lights and interchanges to manage.
- Municipal services: water, sewers, electricity, waste, police, fire, health and education all need to be sized correctly.
- Public transport: buses, metro, trains, trams and ferries, with lines you lay out yourself.
- Budget and policies: taxes, loans, district-level ordinances and a financial balance to keep.
Good to know before you order
This is a Steam key for the worldwide version, with no regional restriction on activation. The game runs on 64-bit Windows with a quad-core processor, 6 to 8 GB of RAM and an entry-level or mid-range dedicated graphics card. About ten gigabytes of disk space are enough for the base game. Large cities and mods place much heavier demands on memory, so allow extra RAM if you plan to go big.
