Assassin's Creed Mirage is a deliberate return to the series' fundamentals. Instead of a vast open world and a sprawling skill tree, it offers a shorter, denser adventure built around urban infiltration. You play Basim Ibn Ishaq, a young street thief in ninth-century Baghdad who is recruited by the Assassins. The story follows his training, his place in the brotherhood and the hunt for a rival order, all set in a city recreated with real attention to history.
- A city as a playground: Baghdad's districts, rooftops, souks and crowds, in which you can disappear.
- Infiltration first: the stealth assassination is once again the preferred approach, since open combat is genuinely risky.
- Tools of the trade: throwing knives, smoke bombs, sleep darts, traps and carrier pigeons.
- Investigations and contracts: the Assassins' bureau hands out missions that call for preparation rather than a head-on charge.
- A network of allies: merchants, scholars and thieves you can call on to open doors or create a diversion.
