Assassin's Creed Mirage marks a deliberate return to the series' fundamentals. Gone is the giant open world and the endless skill tree: here comes a shorter, denser game, centred on urban infiltration. You play Basim Ibn Ishaq, a young street thief in 9th-century Baghdad, recruited by the Assassins; the game follows his training, his entry into the brotherhood and the pursuit of a rival order at the heart of a city recreated with real historical care.
What awaits you
- A city as a playground — Baghdad, its districts, its rooftops, its souks and its crowds in which you vanish.
- Infiltration above all — the stealth assassination becomes the preferred solution once again, open combat being genuinely dangerous.
- Tools of the trade — throwing knives, smoke bombs, sleep darts, traps and carrier pigeons.
- Investigations and contracts — the Assassins' bureau hands out missions to prepare rather than to charge into.
- A network of allies — merchants, scholars and thieves to call upon to open doors or create a diversion.
