ESET NOD32 Antivirus is ESET's antivirus on its own, for 1 PC for 2 years. This is a point to understand before buying: NOD32 provides threat detection and blocking, but it includes neither a firewall, nor anti-spam, nor parental control — those modules belong to the Internet Security editions and above. In return, NOD32 is particularly light: it is well suited to old or low-powered computers, where a full suite would be cumbersome.
What the protection includes
- Real-time antivirus and antispyware — scanning of files, memory and removable media before execution.
- ThreatSense heuristic detection — identifies unknown threats by their behaviour, without waiting for a signature.
- Script and web scanning — blocks malicious code executed from a browser.
- Anti-phishing protection — cuts off access to pages that impersonate a known service.
- Exploit blocking — prevents the exploitation of vulnerabilities in browsers, PDF readers and office suites.
- Gamer mode — suspends notifications and scheduled scans during full-screen sessions.
- Two years of coverage — virus definitions and version updates included over 24 months.
