Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive, a French studio based in Montpellier. Each year, the Paintress paints a number on a monolith and everyone of that age is erased from the world. Expedition 33 sets out for the last time to try to stop this cycle. The game combines mature storytelling, Belle Époque art direction and a combat system that demands constant attention.
What awaits you
- Reactive turn-based combat — you choose your actions as in a classic RPG, but enemy attacks are parried or dodged at the right moment, controller in hand.
- Character building — Pictos and Luminas combine freely to specialise each member of the group: burst damage, status ailments, support.
- A close-knit group — several playable characters with their own mechanics, whose bonds evolve over the course of the expedition.
- Exploration and secrets — a world map to traverse, optional areas, hidden bosses far tougher than those of the main story.
- Atmosphere and music — painterly scenery and an orchestral soundtrack make up a melancholy atmosphere that carries the whole game.
