X4: Foundations is a space simulation developed and published by Egosoft. This listing is a Steam key: you activate it on your own Steam account and download the game from your library. You start as one of several characters, each with a different role, different ships and different technology, and then decide whether to explore, trade, fight or build up a business empire of your own.
What to expect
- Piloting ships in person, from small scouts up to large carriers, either from the cockpit or from an external view, and walking between docked ships on foot.
- A modular station builder: combine production modules, living sections and docks on a map to design your own stations and factories.
- A simulated economy in which computer-controlled ships and stations make, move and trade wares, so prices follow supply and demand.
- A map for giving orders to your fleet, planning trade routes and sending ships on exploration missions, plus a research path that unlocks teleportation between ships.
Who is it for?
Suited to players who like open-ended space games and are happy to learn a set of systems before the effort pays off. If you enjoy planning logistics, building a trading network, managing a fleet and choosing your own direction, X4 leaves plenty of room to do it. It is rated PEGI 7.
