This pack brings together the two building blocks of a VMware virtualisation infrastructure. vSphere 8 Enterprise Plus is the platform that runs several virtual machines on a single physical server: each guest system has its own resources, isolated from the others. vCenter Server 8 Standard is the centralised administration console that manages all the hosts from a single interface. The licence is with no time limit and no restriction on the number of devices.
What this pack allows
- Server consolidation — several physical servers replaced by virtual machines hosted on less hardware, with a better utilisation rate.
- Centralised administration — creation, cloning, moving and monitoring of all virtual machines from vCenter.
- vMotion — moving a virtual machine from one host to another without service interruption, including during hardware maintenance.
- High availability — automatic restart of virtual machines on another host in the event of a physical failure.
- DRS — automatic load balancing between the hosts of the cluster according to actual consumption.
Compatibility
64-bit x86 servers listed on VMware's hardware compatibility list for generation 8. Guest systems cover the main Linux distributions and the server and workstation editions of Windows.
