Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is FromSoftware's action-adventure game set in a reimagined late-16th-century Japan. You play a one-armed shinobi, the Wolf, tasked with recovering his abducted young master. Unlike the Souls games, it abandons classes and statistics in favour of a combat system based on posture: you must parry at the right moment to break your opponent's balance and trigger a fatal blow. Exploration relies on a grappling hook that gives the levels an unprecedented verticality and on stealth that lets you quietly eliminate some of the enemies.
What awaits you
- Parry duels — rhythmic and demanding combat, centred on the posture gauge rather than on health points.
- Grappling hook and stealth — vertical movement, silent approaches and stealthy eliminations.
- Shinobi prosthetic — axe, shuriken, flamethrower and other tools to graft onto the arm, each effective against certain enemies.
- Resurrection — the ability to get back up on the spot, which transforms risk management.
