Prison Architect is a strategy and simulation game developed and published by Introversion Software. This listing is a Steam key: you activate it on your own Steam account and download the game from your library. You start with an empty plot of countryside and a bus of prisoners already on its way, then build the first cells, add the facilities a prison needs and grow the site into a secure, working institution.
What to expect
- Construction and planning: cell blocks, a canteen, an infirmary, a guard room, a workout area and the plumbing that keeps everything running.
- Management of daily prison life, where any gap in your layout quickly turns into a problem you have to solve.
- A story mode that opens with the case of a man facing the electric chair and continues through four more chapters about different characters and parts of prison life.
- An escape mode in which you play a prisoner looking for a way out, in a prison you built yourself or one picked at random.
Who is it for?
Suited to players who enjoy planning, building and optimising, and who are comfortable with a prison setting and mature themes. It is rated PEGI 16. If you like designing a layout and then watching how it holds up in practice, it gives you a good amount to work on.
