Microsoft Visio 2021 Professional is the fuller of the two Visio 2021 editions, sold as a one-off purchase for 1 PC. It is built for technical teams and analysts who document infrastructure, model processes, design database diagrams or create visuals driven by live data.
What the Pro edition adds
- Database diagrams: model relational schemas and reverse-engineer an existing database.
- Full UML: class, sequence, use case, activity, component and deployment diagrams.
- BPMN 2.0: standard business process modelling, with the diagram rules checked for you.
- Data linking: connect shapes to an Excel workbook, a SQL Server database or a SharePoint list, so the diagram reflects the source values.
- Data graphics: icons, gauges and colours generated automatically from the linked data.
- Detailed network diagrams, electrical and engineering plans, using libraries of equipment and technical symbols.
New in the 2021 version
Visio 2021 brings new starter templates, dark mode, better support for high-resolution screens, better performance on dense diagrams and improved conversion of older Visio files.
Good to know
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 only; there is no macOS version
- 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and 4 GB of RAM
- 4 GB of available disk space
- For the data linking features, you need access to the relevant data sources
