It Takes Two, made by Hazelight Studios under the direction of Josef Fares, is an action-platform adventure that can be played only by two players: there is no solo mode. Cody and May, a couple on the verge of divorce, are turned into dolls by their daughter's unintended magic. They must cross their house and garden, now enormous, to get their human form back and, along the way, learn to understand each other again. The game was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021.
What the game offers
- Required cooperation: the two players always have different, complementary abilities, and progress depends on combining them.
- Constant variety: every level brings its own gameplay, from piloting a plane to magnet-based combat to controlling time.
- Split screen: the display is always divided, locally and online, so you can see what your partner is doing.
- Competitive mini-games: dozens of optional challenges scattered through the levels.
