Hearts of Iron IV by Paradox Development Studio is the benchmark of grand strategy applied to the Second World War. You choose a nation — from Germany to the United States, but also Switzerland, Brazil or Romania — and you lead it from 1936 or 1939 on every level at once: domestic politics, industrial mobilisation, research, diplomacy and the conduct of the war. The game unfolds in accelerated real time on a world map divided into provinces, with a permanent pause to think.
What awaits you
- Industry and logistics — building factories, converting civilian production, supplying the fronts and protecting convoys.
- National decision tree — a historical path by country, with alternative branches that allow counterfactual scenarios.
- Customisable divisions — composition, equipment and support to define yourself according to your doctrine.
- Three services — land operations driven by battle plans, air campaigns by zone and naval warfare with spotting and interception.
- Diplomacy — factions, guarantees, lend-lease, occupation and governments in exile.
