Ghostwire: Tokyo, developed by Tango Gameworks, is a first-person action-adventure game set in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, after a supernatural fog has made almost the entire population disappear. You play Akito, unwillingly bound to the spirit of an investigator named KK, which gives him access to “ethereal weaving”: hand gestures inspired by kuji-kiri that project wind, fire and water. The game draws heavily on Japanese folklore, yōkai and Shinto rites to build its atmosphere.
What awaits you
- Gesture-based combat — three elements with distinct effects, complemented by a bow and talismans, with a finishing move that consists of extracting the enemy's core.
- Shibuya reconstructed — streets, pedestrian crossings, konbini and buildings faithfully reproduced, plunged into a rainy, deserted night.
- Creatures of folklore — visitors inspired by Japanese legends, each with its own behaviour and weakness.
- Purification of the torii — cleansing the Shinto gates gradually opens up new areas of the map.
