Wallpaper Engine – Steam account

Wallpaper Engine replaces the static Windows wallpaper with an animated, video or interactive background. Concretely: a moving scene, a looping video, a visualisation that reacts to the music you are listening to or even a background that follows the mouse position. The software is renowned for its very fine performance management, so it does not weigh on resources during a game or demanding work.

What Wallpaper Engine enables

• Animated and video backgrounds — animations, video loops, 3D scenes and particle effects instead of a static image.
• Interactive backgrounds — some scenes react to cursor movement or to system sounds.
• Community catalogue — hundreds of thousands of creations shared free of charge via the Steam Workshop.
• Built-in editor — create your own backgrounds from an image, a video or animated elements.
• Multi-screen setup — a different background per monitor, with independent settings.
• Performance management — the background automatically pauses when an app goes full-screen or when the battery runs low.

Compatibility

Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 7 in 64-bit, via the Steam platform. A DirectX 10 or higher compatible graphics card is required for the most elaborate animated backgrounds. The quality settings let you adapt resource use to your machine.
