This listing is for Microsoft Project 2021 Standard, licensed for 1 PC as a one-off purchase. It is the desktop edition of Microsoft's project planning software, so you can build a schedule, attach durations and costs, and follow progress without taking out a Project Plan subscription.
Planning tools in Standard
- Gantt chart showing tasks, their durations and the dependencies between them.
- Critical path and slack, which single out the tasks that set the finish date.
- Local resource assignment for the people, equipment and costs of the project you have open.
- Baselines, so actual progress can be compared with the original plan at any point.
- Reports and dashboards covering overview, costs, workload and overdue tasks.
- Customisable timelines that give stakeholders a visual summary.
New in the 2021 release
The interface follows Office 2021, dark mode is supported, schedules with several thousand tasks run more smoothly, and recent file formats are better handled. As with any one-off version, no new features are added after release.
Standard or Pro?
Project Pro adds a shared resource pool across several projects and a connection to Project Server or Project Online. Standard works on the local machine only, which is enough for an independent project manager or a small business that handles its own schedules.
Good to know
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 only; there is no macOS version.
- 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and 4 GB of RAM.
- 4 GB of free disk space.
