Hunt: Showdown, developed by Crytek, is a first-person shooter that blends player-versus-player confrontation with an environmental threat, set in the swamps of Louisiana at the end of the 19th century. You play a bounty hunter sent to track down a monstrous creature: you must first find its clues on a large map, then bring it down, banish it and finally get out of the area alive — while other teams of players know exactly where you are the moment the ritual begins. It is an extraction game where death is permanent for the hunter concerned.
What awaits you
- Permanent death — a hunter who is killed is lost along with their equipment, which gives real weight to every decision.
- Period weapons — lever-action rifles, revolvers and single-shot weapons, with slow reloading and punishing ballistics.
- Sound is key — crows, dogs, chains and tripwires give away your movements; listening is your best radar.
- PvPvE — machine-controlled creatures and rival teams occupy the map at the same time.
- Extraction phase — getting out with the bounty is often more dangerous than obtaining it.
