A Way Out is a narrative adventure from Hazelight Studios, designed to be played exclusively by two. You play as Leo and Vincent, two inmates who want to escape and settle their scores with the same man. There is no solo mode: the game takes place in permanent split screen, including during cutscenes.
What awaits you
- Mandatory cooperation — progression relies on synchronised actions: creating a diversion while the other searches, holding a rope, forcing a window open together.
- Permanent split screen — the image stays divided from start to finish and the framing evolves according to the scene to give more room to the player who is acting.
- An escape then a run — the first part is played in the prison, the rest outside: car, farm, hospital, pursuits.
- Very varied gameplay sequences — stealth, climbing, driving, action phases, but also optional mini-games (darts, basketball, banjo).
