Black Myth: Wukong is the action-RPG developed by the Chinese studio Game Science, loosely inspired by the classic novel Journey to the West. You play the Destined One, a monkey armed with a staff, setting out in the footsteps of the Monkey King across a mythological China peopled with demons, monks and creatures drawn from folklore. The game sits in the lineage of demanding action games: precise combat, attack patterns to learn and very numerous, very polished boss fights.
What awaits you
- Staff combat — three different stances (pillar stance, thrust stance, smash stance) that give distinct combos.
- Transformations — taking the form of certain defeated enemies to have their abilities temporarily.
- Spells and techniques — immobilisation, cloning, metamorphoses, to manage with a limited mana pool.
- Very numerous bosses — one of the game's strong points, with creatures given carefully crafted choreographies and staging.
- Chapters with varied settings — forests, snow-capped mountains, temples and deserts, in a strongly marked artistic direction.
