Monster Hunter: World is the instalment that tipped Capcom's series into the Western mainstream. You join a scientific expedition in the New World and there hunt giant creatures across vast interconnected ecosystems. The game's cycle: track a monster, take it on, gather its materials, forge superior gear, start again with a more formidable target.
What awaits you
- Living ecosystems — Ancient Forest, Wildspire Waste, Rotten Vale: the monsters feed there, fight each other and flee when injured.
- Fourteen weapons — each is a game within the game, with its own rhythm, cancels and specific mechanics.
- The Clutch Claw — lets you hoist yourself onto a monster, ram it into scenery and open up damage windows.
- Hunt preparation — traps, bombs, healing plants and canteen meals that grant temporary bonuses.
- Co-op for up to four — online sessions, SOS flares and investigation quests of variable difficulty.
- Post-launch content — many monsters and events were added free of charge over the updates.
