ARK: Survival Evolved is the open-world survival game from Studio Wildcard that popularised the "survival plus dinosaurs" formula. You wake up with nothing on a mysterious island populated by prehistoric creatures, with a single implicit instruction: hold out until the next day. Gathering, crafting, building, taming, then in time exploring caves, taking on bosses and discovering the true nature of the island. This is the original version of the game, less technically demanding than its rebuild.
What awaits you
- Training creatures — from the little dodo to the tyrannosaurus, each species serves to harvest, carry, fight or fly.
- Base building — thatch, wood, stone then metal, with defences, generators and irrigation systems.
- Survival management — food, water, stamina, temperature and weight constantly affect your movement.
- Tribes and co-operation — grouping of players with shared resources, creatures and structures.
- Multiple maps — the original island and other official environments with distinct climates and wildlife.
