VMware vSphere 8 Enterprise Plus is VMware's server virtualisation platform in its most complete edition. It allows several operating systems to run simultaneously on a single physical server, each in an isolated virtual machine with its own resources. It is the foundation of modern enterprise infrastructures: less hardware, faster deployment and more flexible operation. The licence is with no time limit and no restriction on the number of devices.
What vSphere 8 Enterprise Plus allows
- Multiple virtual machines — Windows Server, Linux and other guest systems coexist on the same physical host.
- Dynamic resource allocation — processor, memory and storage assigned and adjusted machine by machine.
- vMotion — live migration of a virtual machine to another host, with no interruption for users.
- Storage vMotion — moving virtual disks from one storage array to another while running.
- Distributed switch — consistent network configuration across all the hosts of a cluster.
Compatibility
64-bit x86 servers compatible with generation 8 of vSphere, according to the hardware compatibility list published by VMware. Centralised administration of several hosts requires vCenter Server, sold separately. Shared storage is recommended for cluster functions.
