Sid Meier's Civilization V is one of the most-played entries in Firaxis Games' celebrated turn-based strategy series. You take the lead of a civilisation at the dawn of history and lead it to the space age: founding cities, exploring the map, developing the sciences, negotiating with other leaders, waging war or winning victory through culture, diplomacy or conquest. This instalment introduced the hexagonal-tile map and the end of unit stacking, two changes that profoundly transformed the series' military tactics.
What awaits you
- Hexagonal map — terrain that genuinely matters, with defensive positions, chokepoints and lines of sight.
- One unit per tile — battles that require manoeuvring rather than stacking armies.
- City-states — small neutral actors to court in order to obtain resources, units or diplomatic votes.
- Several routes to victory — domination, science, culture, diplomacy, each with its own strategy.
