Persona 5 Royal is the extended version of the JRPG by Atlus. You play a high-school student sent to Tokyo after a false accusation, who discovers a parallel world where the corrupt desires of adults take the form of palaces. The game alternates between two inseparable halves: the everyday life of a high-school student — lessons, friends, part-time jobs, outings — and turn-based dungeon exploration with a group of phantom thieves.
What awaits you
- Turn-based combat — a system of elemental weaknesses, extra turns when you hit correctly and group attacks when all enemies are down.
- The Personas — creatures to recruit through negotiation mid-combat, then to fuse to create more powerful entities.
- Palaces and Mementos — hand-crafted dungeons for the main story, plus a generated labyrinth for side quests.
- Calendar and social life — every day counts: the bonds forged with the Confidants unlock concrete abilities in combat.
- Infiltration — hiding, taking enemies by surprise and managing an alert level in the palaces.
- Art direction — stylised interface, acid jazz soundtrack and highly identifiable staging.
What this edition includes
Royal is the enhanced edition of the original game: it adds a complete third semester, two new playable characters, a brand-new palace, new Confidants, additional combat mechanics and numerous pacing adjustments.
