God of War (2018), developed by Santa Monica Studio, marks the reboot of the series and its shift from Greek mythology to the Norse world. Kratos, now settled in the lands of Midgard, sets out to scatter the ashes of his late wife from the summit of the highest mountain of the nine realms, accompanied by his son Atreus. The game abandons the fixed camera of the earlier instalments in favour of one continuous single take, without any cut and tightens the action behind the character's shoulder.
What awaits you
- The Leviathan axe — a weapon that you throw, that freezes enemies and that returns to the hand at the press of a button, at the heart of the whole combat system.
- Atreus in support — the son fires the bow, distracts enemies and takes part in the puzzles.
- Semi-open areas — a central world and several side realms, with passages that open up as you gain abilities.
- Progression and crafting — armours, runes, talismans and weapon upgrades forged by the dwarven brothers Brok and Sindri.
- Norse bestiary — draugr, trolls, valkyries and creatures from the Eddas, with demanding optional fights.
- Intimate story — a tale centred on the relationship between a taciturn father and a child learning who he is.
