Assassin's Creed Shadows takes the series into late-16th-century Japan, in the Sengoku era. The game rests on two playable characters with radically opposed styles: Naoe, a shinobi specialising in infiltration, agility and silent elimination and Yasuke, a samurai who came from Africa, built for direct confrontation and raw power. You switch between the two depending on the approach you want, each having their own skills, weapons and reactions from the world towards them.
What awaits you
- Two ways to play — total stealth with Naoe, or open confrontation with Yasuke, on the same objectives.
- An open feudal Japan — castles, villages, bamboo forests and shrines, with four seasons that alter the terrain and infiltration.
- Shadow and light — lighting is a mechanic: putting out lanterns creates genuine shadow zones to hide in.
- A hideout to develop — a base to build and to populate with allies who have useful skills.
- Melee combat — katana, kusarigama, naginata, bow and kunai, with parries and stances.
